A major rebranding exercise recently left Carillion Energy Services with a mountain of old uniforms. As a company committed to environmental and community responsibility, sending the waste to landfill simply wasn't an option.
A local clothing recycling firm are to collect and weigh the uniforms for which they will pay a price per kilo. These funds will be donated to the eaga Community Fund, which in turn will support many community environment projects throughout the UK. All clothes are then checked and roughly 95% will be distributed for reuse by communities in developing countries with the remainder recycled as cloths and other products.
Sam Robinson, Social Responsibly Manager at eaga said, "We are delighted that Carillion Energy Services are able to work in this way, supporting both the environment and local and international communities. By avoiding landfill at all costs and giving the uniforms a second life, we feel proud to be making a difference.
