Family Fundraiser at the Hoar Cross Down Hill Race.

This year's Downhill Soapbox Race in Hoar Cross is expected to break all records with crowds of over 5,500 expected to attend in support of Birmingham Children's Hospital. The event, supported by local home insulation company Carillion Energy Services amongst other companies, will see competitors tested to their limits with over 50 home made carts competing for the glory of being crowned The Hoar Cross Downhill Champion 2009.

Starting at 10am on 30th December at School Hill in Hoar Cross, the event will allow spectators to view all the weird and whacky karts, enjoy the racing on large screens and visit the local bars, who will be serving refreshments throughout the day. At the event close prizes will be awarded and the traditional ‘Pit Stop Party' will begin until late.

A Member of the MAD Club Committee John Gallagher, who also works as the Birmingham depot manager at Carillion Energy Services championed the event commenting: "This year's Down Hill Race will be another great day out, with people coming from all over the country to spectate. We have been overwhelmed by support from local residents and business, and only hope we can beat last year's charity fund of £60,000.00. It adds to the excitement of the day knowing that our efforts will raise money for such a worthy course.Charity donations will be invited on the day and Marshall's will be on-site at all times for your own safety.
