Carillion Energy Services urges Sheffield residents to take up free insulation offer
Free insulation

MORE than 4,000 households in Sheffield have now received free insulation for their home thanks to a scheme set up by Sheffield City Council in Partnership with local insulation installer, Carillion Energy Services.

The project was launched in April 2009 and offers free cavity wall and loft insulation to both homeowners and private tenants in the Sheffield area (providing the house is suitable).

Carillion Energy Services has been working in Partnership with Sheffield City Council as the only contractor on the scheme, which will aim to reduce fuel poverty, and the City’s carbon footprint.

The scheme offers free loft and cavity wall insulation to all homeowners and private tenants, regardless of income and the size of their home. It is being rolled out ward by ward, with Hillsborough the latest area to benefit.

In addition anyone aged 70 or over, or receiving income-related benefits can sign up for the scheme at any time, no matter where they live in the city, and the council is currently contacting people who are likely to be eligible.

Over the next few months, Carillion Energy Services will be starting work in the Darnall ward, moving on to Gleadless Valley, Southey and Stocksbridge and Upper Don Wards.

Victoria Himsworth, Marketing Manager, Carillion Energy Services said “This is such a great scheme for the people of Sheffield. Installing insulation has many benefits; it not only saves money on heating bills, but also keeps the heat in during the cold winter months and helps to reduce carbon emissions too”.

Carillion Energy Services is the only contractor appointed to work on this scheme. If contact is made by any other company claiming to work for Sheffield City Council, residents should call Freephone 0800 915 9096 or phone the Trading Standards advice line, Consumer Direct, on 08454 040506 (local number).
