Carillion Energy Services Secures Funding to Deliver the Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP).

Carillion Energy Services is currently targeting areas to delivery energy efficient measures through funding secured from Drax in an exclusive agreement to deliver the power generator’s entire Community Energy Saving Programme (“CESP”) obligation.

CESP will target households in specific low income areas across Great Britain to improve energy efficiency standards and permanently reduce fuel bills.  Energy suppliers and power generators, such as Drax, are obliged to contribute to the programme by offering a range of energy efficiency solutions such as insulation, modern central heating systems and renewable technologies.  The companies’ targets are defined in terms of a carbon emissions reduction obligation, with each of the qualifying energy efficiency measures attracting a certain ‘carbon score’.

Adopting a whole house, house-by-house, street-by-street approach, Drax will work with Carillion Energy Services to develop community-based partnerships and promote energy efficiency solutions.  Under this partnership communities of up to 600 homes will be identified for help in CESP-eligible areas.
Dorothy Thompson, Chief Executive of Drax said: “This is the first time that generators have had an obligation which links them directly with end consumers.  Working with Carillion Energy Services means our obligation can be managed in a very efficient way in what is very unfamiliar territory for us.
“With almost 20 years’ experience of improving the energy efficiency of UK housing stock, we believe Carillion Energy Services is well placed to assist us in meeting our carbon emissions reduction obligation under CESP.”

CESP – The Key Facts
•    The Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP) is a Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) initiative to improve energy efficiency standards across Great Britain.
•    CESP will promote a whole house, house-by-house, street-by-street approach.
•    It will be delivered through the development of community-based partnerships involving Local Authorities.
•    It is estimated that up to 100 schemes will be funded, benefiting around 90,000 homes across Great Britain.
•    The progamme will deliver a saving of nearly 4m of CO2 emissions.
•    Fuel savings per household could be £328.00 per annum.
•    It will focus on low income areas.

What areas will qualify for CESP?
CESP is an area based scheme and the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) has been used to identify areas with the highest level of low income housing. In England, the lowest 10% of areas ranked by income score in the IMD) will qualify and in Scotland and Wales, the lowest 15% of areas will qualify.  All domestic properties in an area, regardless of tenure or occupant, are eligible for CESP.  A list of qualifying areas can be found on the DECC website you can contact Carillion Energy Services.

What energy measures are available under CESP:
•    Insulation (external solid wall, internal solid wall, cavity wall and loft insulation)
•     Fuel switch (to gas).
•    Connection to a district heating scheme.
•     Ground source heat pumps.
•    Air source heat pumps.
•    Micro-generation (PV, Solar Thermal, microCHP, biomass boiler, micro wind, micro hydro).
•    Heating controls.
•    Replacing old boilers (G rated) with high efficiency models.
•    Installing gas central heating in homes without central heating.
•    Home energy audits.

Carillion Energy Services can offer you this full range of products and service to help you delivery your energy efficiency obligations.
